Best fit

Buyers committed to a multi-year deferral who want index-linked accumulation, value the ability to mix crediting designs (cap, participation, monthly-sum) on the same S&P 500 exposure, and don't need a guaranteed lifetime-income rider built into the contract.

Product analyst notes

How to think about this contract

Why it can stand out

  • Multiple crediting designs are offered on the S&P 500 — annual point-to-point cap, multi-year participation, and monthly-sum cap — so a buyer who wants S&P exposure can pick the mechanic that best fits their view of the index, rather than being locked into a single style.
  • Index menu spans recognizable benchmark indexes (S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000) alongside two proprietary volatility-controlled S&P 500 Daily Risk Control variants, so the buyer can choose between like-for-like cap comparison and higher-participation alternatives.
  • The surrender ladder is shorter than the ten-year norm on the long end of the FIA market — buyers who don't want a full decade of deferral can compare it directly against shorter-surrender alternatives, with the schedule fully visible on this page.
  • Free-withdrawal allowance and the full surrender schedule are visible on this page, so the schedule of penalty-free liquidity is not gated behind a sales brochure.

What to confirm

  • This contract is not a guaranteed-lifetime-withdrawal product. There is no GLWB income rider attached — the live feed shows an empty income-rider list — and the only contract-level enhancements are surrender-charge waivers (nursing home, terminal illness). Do not compare its payout side-by-side with a rider-led income FIA.
  • There is no premium bonus and no death-benefit roll-up on this contract — the death benefit is the standard contract value, with no guaranteed legacy bump. Buyers prioritizing a legacy step-up should evaluate that separately.
  • Several of the listed indexes are proprietary volatility-controlled benchmarks (S&P 500 Daily Risk Control variants). Participation rates on these strategies can look high in absolute terms but are not directly comparable to an uncontrolled S&P 500 cap — evaluate each strategy on its own merits. The guaranteed-minimum cap floor on this contract is low, so caps and participation rates can reset down toward that floor over the surrender term, and the buyer carries that renewal risk for the full term.
  • Not available to residents of New York, Vermont, or Mississippi per the live feed — the contract is offered in 48 jurisdictions. Confirm availability with the carrier for your state before assuming this contract is offered.

Not ideal for

Buyers who need a contractually guaranteed GLWB-rider withdrawal rate, expect a premium bonus to offset the surrender commitment, or want a death-benefit roll-up beyond the standard contract value — none of those are what this contract is built to deliver. Also not available to residents of New York, Vermont, or Mississippi per the live feed.

Accumulation profile

Accumulation-focused contract

Current CANNEX information identifies this product as tax-deferred accumulation. Compare cap, participation rate, fees, liquidity, and surrender terms; use a separate payout-focused contract when guaranteed payout mechanics are required.

Common questions about CapLock Fixed Indexed Annuity

Can I lose money in CapLock Fixed Indexed Annuity?

A negative index return by itself does not reduce the contract's account value: CapLock Fixed Indexed Annuity credits 0% — the floor — for that indexed period. The account value can still decrease from applicable rider fees, Performance Rate Rider or other strategy charges, administrative charges, withdrawals, surrender charges, or other contract-specific deductions. In years with no credited interest, those deductions can reduce the account value. Up to 10% of your value can be withdrawn each year without a charge; withdrawals above the penalty-free amount during the surrender period can incur a surrender charge.

How do CapLock Fixed Indexed Annuity's crediting strategies compare?

Use "Compare against" in the analyzer to overlay another current CapLock Fixed Indexed Annuity strategy on the same premium, age, years, and hypothetical index path. The control labels the strategy type, rate, index, and context so caps, participation rates, triggers, spreads, and fixed-account choices are not treated as interchangeable.

Crediting design

How the interest-crediting choices are framed

CapLock Fixed Indexed Annuity currently shows 38 distinct indexed or fixed crediting choices across 44 displayed rate entries, including S&P 500 Index, with 12 volatility-controlled index options grouped separately. These choices matter because caps, participation rates, fixed accounts, spreads, renewal terms, and fee-bearing rider variants are different mechanics and should not be ranked as one simple rate list.

  • S&P 500 Index: 8.25% annual cap
  • S&P 500 Index: 5% monthly cap
  • S&P 500 Index: 8.5% annual cap
  • S&P 500 Index: 8.25% annual point-to-point cap

Liquidity terms

Why access rules deserve as much attention as rates

A fixed indexed annuity can preserve more control than an income-only contract, but access is still governed by the surrender schedule, free-withdrawal terms, and waiver language. Those details are where many product comparisons become more meaningful than a simple rate list.

  • 10%/yr free withdrawal
  • Nursing home waiver
  • Terminal illness waiver

Verification note

Use carrier materials as term evidence, then confirm the current version

Carrier materials such as [FIA] Oceanview CapLock - Client Brochure.pdf help explain the contract language behind the data on this page; the latest document activity we see is Apr 24, 2026. For the current brochure, rate sheet, or specimen contract, confirm the state-specific version with the carrier or a licensed financial professional.

  • Rates and rider terms can vary by state and issue age
  • Carrier guarantees depend on claims-paying ability
  • Current contract forms should be confirmed before purchase
